What Are The Different Experiences of White Students and Students of Color Due to School Segregation?
White students and students of color have been given drastically different rights, both academically and in terms of normal life. Due to these differences, white students are more successful in the future, compared to black students. One example of where white students were ahead of black students was volunteer opportunities which are very important for college. The flyer below shows a volunteer opportunity exclusively for white students at a high school library and it also offers a stipend, but it was only available to white students.
Contrasting Resumes
Since White students had more opportunities than black students, they had higher chances of enrolling in top tier colleges/universities. White students were entitled to more opportunities, ranging from internships to earning selective titles/prizes. As a result, white students had more advanced resumes compared to black students. Below are two resumes, one of a white student and one of a black student. These two resumes are very different in terms of education, career, and experience. A major cause of these varying resumes is school segregation. Since these students attended school with different facilities, their resumes are very different.
